In the titular short-story of this thought-provoking work, humans are killing too much plant life on the planet. Insects depend on plant life find their existence in peril. The result: the insects mutate into gigantic creatures — and the war to end all wars begins! In the second short story, a young Indian by the name of “Running Buffalo” learns the truth about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It is not to study the make up of new land, rather, it is “Jefferson’s idea to take the land away the Indians”.
Featuring two stories, this work opens up with the tale about an elderly man who travels back in time , 1995 to 1941. He takes with him all of his memory of the intervening years. Obviously, he can predict much of the future from his new base of 1941. The question is: Will this ability be for the good or the bad?
A veteran dies and goes to heaven. There, he is met by the Archangel Raquel. The two are assigned by God to go to earth and warn the people that because of animosity towards one another and the ungodly abuse of the earth itself, it is probable that human existence on earth will cease!
